Thick: 5 Years Behind

This 3 piece band from Brooklyn described this record as doing what feels right. With such conviction in their music, they are really presenting what’s right into today’s world so well.

The lead single and opener ‘5 Years Behind’ starts with a cool and wacky way, singing about reflection on the expectations you make on where and who you’ll be over time. ‘Bumming me out’ is a Dookie esq track on how the news is so overwhelming these days. They brilliantly make this sound their own, yet a great nod to Green Day if on purpose or not. ‘Fake News’ is a great short tongue n cheek nod to people’s terrible nature to think anything they see on their phones or tv is true.

Highlight of the record is the single ‘Mainsplain’, a great and fun commentary track which was my first listen of the band.

6/10
