Boys Boys Boys EP- Susie Blue: Songwriter Offers Love, Support and Impressive Songwriting

Written by Tom Bedding

The mellow indie synth track, ‘Daughters’, begins the EP with flying colours...well rainbow colours to be more precise! Susie Blue has taken what she has gained from her supportive mother with her sexuality into this song, which includes important and beautiful messages of how amazing and incredible people in the LGBTQ community can be! The synths are sweet as heck, while the rhythm guitar beefs up the song incredibly well. Throughout the song, the melody is catchy and Susie’s vocals are very effective and captures the tone of the songs message beautifully.

Susie’s synth sound continues on ‘Love You Anyway’, which begins with some dramatic, sparse synths and vocal delivers. It really becomes this indie synth heaven, the production is effective and that allows the vocals to stand out really well.

‘Pretender’ has a swagger and playful synth beat to it, really showing off how Susie Blue is able to venture into different sounds, confidently and effectively. The chorus has the songwriter in a very venerable and passionate place, with the lyrics really taking ahold of the song well. There could have been a shift later in the song but the overall emotion and cool sounding guitars (that closes the song), leaves the listener enriched with the tone of this track.

The closing track, ‘May God Forgive You’, brings elements that we have heard from the artist before but still keeping that indie synth ora of this latest release. Susie Blue lets it rip on the EP’s finale, letting a more band sound take centre stage. Overall, ‘Boys Boys Boys’ showcases how significant this artist is to their community and the talent that so many wish they possessed!
