Blossom: Foolish Loving Spaces

Despite coming in at 34 minutes, the Stockport band manage to pack their 3rd album with so much fun and catchy, simple melodies. It’s incredible that they seem to deliver every time!

Opener ‘If You Think This Is Real Life’ is a conga song in waiting and follows with popular singles ‘Your Girlfriend’ and ‘The Keeper’. Both being big nods to Talking Heads and Primal Scream respectively. ‘My Swimming Brain’ is a great fusion of Fleetwood Mac and Tame Impala. Songs like ‘Oh No (I Think I’m in Love)’ and ‘Falling For Someone’ feel like ABBA songs, not surprising from this band now.

@charliesaltshines with his bass playing alongside Tom Ogden’s ear for a catchy melody. The bass line on ‘Sunday Was Friend Of Mine’ (despite being heavily inspired by a Rod Stewart track) shows the talent the bass player has and how vital he is to the sound of the band.

The closer track is a sign of what is to come according to the band. Yet it does leave you wanting to hear what’s the best from this next set of songs.

It’s a fun, loving, joyous record with more great singles to add their ever growing collection!

6.5/10
